Write Source

This is a writing curriculum published by Houghton Mifflin. It's based on the 6 Traits approach to the writing process. There are homeschool packages available and Hewitt Homeschooling has a syllabus for planning which is very helpful and reasonably priced.

Digital Frog

Virtual frog dissection software, a series of digital field trips to different habitats, and a program exploring cell structure. It has engaging activities, but is a bit expensive. Has been available through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Brain Pop

This website provides animated videos in nearly all subject areas. The main site is targeted to upper elem. through junior high ages, and Brain Pop Jr. is for K-3. It's a bit pricey, but you can save money by ordering through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Book Punch

This website provides activities for exploring literature. There are currently about 40 titles available recommended for grades 3-9. The activities are interactive writing prompts that guide the student through the writing process.

In the Hands of a Child

This is a company that publishes lapbook materials on a wide variety of subjects. They are also available in printed and ebook format (including a "type it in" option, which my son loved since he didn't have to write!) You can even purchase a kit w/ the foldables already printed on colored paper.

A note about religious content: The writers/publishers are Christian, and they have a line of Bible study lapbooks. But I was never bothered by any religious content in the history/science units I purchased from them.

These are also available through the CurrClick website.
