Mac's Abacus

A tool for early math learning. This special abacus helps young children explore counting and number concepts in a concrete way. The accompanying workbook includes lessons and activities, plus a teacher's guide and lesson planner. Very affordable!

This online learning system has courses for nearly every subject and all grade levels (even offering college credits!) Materials include video lessons, and online quizzes and tests. You can track progress for as many students as you'd like with the teacher subscription, which is reasonably priced at $60/month.

Prodigies

This complete music curriculum is available online for preschool and elementary level students. The basic curriculum includes videos lessons using Kodaly hand signs and singing. You can also purchase color coded desk bells to play along while learning music notation and theory. An upgrade to membership gives you access to lesson plans and printable materials.

Library of Congress

The teacher pages at the Library of Congress website have many useful resources. There are ideas and tools for using primary sources in learning. There are also lesson plans, presentations, activities, and theme based collections. A wonderful site for American history study!

Curious Jane

This company provides DIY/maker resources for girls. They publish a quarterly print magazine and a few books, and run summer camp programs in four US cities. You can try out their materials by subscribing to a free "project of the month" email.

Reading IQ

This reading app provides access to thousands of books for preschool through 6th grade level learners. The subscription (for a pretty reasonable monthly price) allows for progress tracking for 3 students, and the app will make recommendations based on reading level and interests. 

History Bombs

This program includes videos, worksheets and quizzes for history learning in jr. high and high school levels. The videos are available for free on Youtube, but you need to get the teacher subscription for the printable materials.

Legends of Learning

Online, super-hero themed science games for elementary and middle school levels. You can play for free (with ads and limited content) or pay a reasonable subscription fee for membership. (Unfortunately, you have to be affiliated with a public school to get all of the features for free! Perhaps some contact from the homeschool community would change the company policy!)

 

Grammar Active

This hands-on grammar curriculum includes CD ROMs, teacher manuals, and games for learning grammar in elementary through high school levels. Although designed for classroom settings, it can be used in homeschooling, and you can get a good discount through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Meister Cody

This online math program is designed to help students with math problems (including dyscalculia.) A subscription includes 3 students and the app can be downloaded to multiple devices. Students spend about 30 minutes a day exploring a fantasy story and doing practice exercises. Price is very reasonable if you get the discount from Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.
