Engage Your Kids in Learning with PBS Learning Media

I'm back to blogging after a break for the holidays. This is the time of year that I've always struggled to stay motivated, and I know I'm not alone in this feeling! If you or your kids are feeling the winter doldrums, PBS Learning Media can help you out.

This free service from PBS brings you thousands of multimedia resources to spice up you studies. There are video clips from many well-known PBS series, as well as audio clips, documents, images, and webpages. You can also take advantage of lesson plans containing resources collected and shared by other educators. The library of resources covers all major subjects including some arts and foreign language materials.

There are also some very useful teacher tools.  You can create a storyboard (which is essentially a PowerPoint presentation) using media content from the library and including text. The quiz maker tool allows you to create multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank, and essay questions and assign them to students. The lesson builder combines media content and questions into interactive lessons, and the puzzle builder creates crossword and word search puzzles.  These tools are particularly useful for unit study planning.

So, fight off the January gloom by visiting PBS Learning Media. You can dazzle your kids with a multimedia presentation you've put together, or just sit with them and explore the huge collection of fascinating resources!

Happy Homeschooling!
