Harmony Fine Arts

Charlotte Mason style art and music curriculum plans. You can purchase plans for an entire year, or shorter units focusing on one composer and artist. The plans give you links to books, cd's and online content, plus weekly suggestions for pacing and activities.

This site has a library of over a thousand text passages with accompanying questions for discussion and comprehension assessment. There are informational texts in many subjects, passages from books (fiction and non-fiction), historical documents, short stories, poetry, and more. You can search for texts by subject matter, grade level and themes, and there are text sets to use when studying specific books or historical eras. A rich and useful FREE resource!

Masterpiece Society

Self-paced online courses including hands-on art, plus art history and appreciation. These courses are very reasonably priced and designed for multiple ages and even parent participation. (*Note on religious content: one course is designed for girls and moms and has a bible study component with it. I also noticed some comments in course descriptions about boys using other colors if they don't like pink. If you are concerned about gender exclusivity, you'll want to look closely at the materials and be prepared for some discussion.)

This music appreciation curriculum is affordable and has everything you need to help your child develop listening skills and learn about music and composers. You can buy packages of lessons on musical eras or composers, including links for listening and researching and notebooking pages for recording what you've learned. There is also a subscription option that gives you access to all lessons, plus live online classes and additional resources. There are also lots of great ideas and links in the blog.

Heidi Songs

This company provides learning songs for pre-school and primary levels, with printable resources to accompany them. The songs are available on CD's, DVD's and online videos. They cover phonics, reading, math, and other early learning concepts. Great for kinetic and auditory learners.

Meet the Masters

This online art curriculum combines art history and hands-on art instruction. You can purchase a "track" with lessons on 5 different artists, choosing from three age levels. There are also bundles with multiple tracks, and you can save money by sharing the curriculum with other families, or purchase through Homeschool Buyers Co-op.

Hoffman Academy

This is a very reasonably priced system for learning piano. There are video lessons and printable music. As a musician and former piano teacher, I'm impressed with the thorough, gentle approach of Mr. Hoffman in the videos. This is a much less expensive option than private music lessons, so a great way to get started.

An online drawing curriculum from an Australian mom and artist. Video lessons show kids how to draw a particular picture, developing the basic drawing skills they need to become confident, creative artists.
