Life Skills

K5 Learning

Online reading, math, and spelling curriculum for elementary ages. Includes interactive lessons, assessments, progress tracking, and reports for parents. There are also free worksheets and some printable workbooks available for purchase.

Mind Yeti

This company provides mindfulness lessons for kids through an app or online audio/visual content. There are a few sessions available for free, and the subscription price is reasonable.

Good Typing

A no-frills, free online typing course. The interface is simple, and it provides words per minute and error information for each lesson. You can also choose from different language and keyboard layout options.

Peekapak

This is a character education program for young children (PK through grade 3.) There are ten stories in e-book format that explore concepts like respect, kindness, and empathy. There are lessons and activities to accompany each story. You can get the stories and a few activities for free, but need to subscribe for most lessons and activities. The activities are very classroom-oriented, so homeschoolers may not get a lot from a subscription. There is also an online game component, which requires signing up for a waiting list.

Flocabulary

A collection of hip-hop song videos that teach concepts in many subjects. Videos can be watched in regular or discussion mode (the video automatically pauses in certain spots for questions.) There are accompanying discussion questions, quizzes and activities. Subscription price is reasonable.

Go Phonics

This complete phonics and reading curriculum uses the multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham approach, which is often effective for students with dyslexia. The packages available are pricey, but would cover about 3 years of learning. You can also purchase items separately if you'd like to try it out before investing in the complete package.
