Mathematics

WOW in School

This site is part of "gamification" trend in education, using the World of Warcraft game as the basis for a language arts curriculum. The learning materials are available as a free download, and there are many other resources as well, including some lessons in other subject areas.

Jump Math

Complete math curriculum for grades K through 8. The teacher guides are available as free downloads, or can be purchased in printed form along with the student workbooks. Prices are quite reasonable.

Great Minds

This company offers curriculum in Math, Language Arts and History.

The math materials (covering K through 12) are available in free pdf form, or can be purchased in print. There is also an optional online component available as a yearly subscription.

The K-8 language arts program is based on children's literature and looks like it would fit well with both Classical and Charlotte Mason philosophies. You must request a price quote, and pricing looks geared toward schools. But it's certainly worth looking into.

Mr. D Math

Online math curriculum for jr. high and high school level students. This is a self-paced online program, but you can also pay extra for live online sessions. Includes video instruction and online practice and tests.

Derek Owens Math and Physics

Online classes (live options in Atlanta area) in high school level math and physics. Courses include video instruction and printed workbooks. Students complete written assignments and submit them electronically for feedback. They can also email questions to the teacher. Looks like a good, complete program at a fairly reasonable price.

Building Heroes Academy

This company is just starting out and offering a very interesting concept: all-in-one, family-style, character-based curriculum. There is currently one year of curriculum available and you can pre-order the second year. (Looks like they're planning on at least four years of materials.) The program includes language arts, math, history, and science for elementary ages. *A note about religion/philosophy: The concept of this curriculum struck me as ripe for religious dogmatism, and I saw a few catch phrases that concerned me.

Rebrickable

This is a great site for lego lovers! You can set up an account, input the lego sets you own, and get plans for building other projects with your lego collection. You can also share your own creations with others.
