Mathematics

Funnix

This company provides programs for beginning reading and math learning. Components include interactive computer lessons (delivered on a DVD) and workbooks (printable from the DVD, or you can order printed versions.) The price is quite reasonable.

Math Celebrity

This site gives instant, step by step solutions to math problems. There are also video lessons to help explain math concepts and help for ACT and SAT tests, plus a podcast and some other information about the college application process. You can access the math help for free, but a paid subscription gets rid of the ads and gives you a few extra features.

iLearn Math

An online math curriculum for K through algebra. This program uses flash-based exercises for practice and assessment. Activities are customized to the child's abilities to challenge and encourage learning. It lacks the bells and whistles of many online programs, and the price is a bit high. But it could work for some students.

Mac's Abacus

A tool for early math learning. This special abacus helps young children explore counting and number concepts in a concrete way. The accompanying workbook includes lessons and activities, plus a teacher's guide and lesson planner. Very affordable!

Meister Cody

This online math program is designed to help students with math problems (including dyscalculia.) A subscription includes 3 students and the app can be downloaded to multiple devices. Students spend about 30 minutes a day exploring a fantasy story and doing practice exercises. Price is very reasonable if you get the discount from Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Pattern Press

A discovery-based elementary math program. Concepts are introduced with manipulatives, and students explore the concept to discover patterns. Student and teacher materials are available as reasonably-priced PDF's.

AstroLogix

This inexpensive building toy will help students of all ages learn geometry concepts through hands-on play. Purchase a set and use the free building plans on the website or just explore the possibilities!

The Curriculum Corner

This blog comes from two public elementary teachers. It's full of free resources for math and language arts learning. You can download pdf's and powerpoint files including games, learning centers, worksheets and more. It may take a bit of searching if you're looking for something specific, and I found the amount of ads pretty distracting. But there are hundreds of quality, free resources here.

Mathigon

An interactive math learning tool for jr. high and high school levels. This free resource guides students in discovering and applying mathmatical concepts through interactive, online content. There is also a story element to the presentation that makes it very engaging. There doesn't appear to be much in the way of practice exercises, so you may want to suppliment if that's important to you. But it's a great way to get students engaged in math learning.
