Pre-school

Funnix

This company provides programs for beginning reading and math learning. Components include interactive computer lessons (delivered on a DVD) and workbooks (printable from the DVD, or you can order printed versions.) The price is quite reasonable.

Suburban Science

This is a small mom-owned company that provides science resources. The shop on Teachers Pay Teachers offers lesson and unit plans, activities, games, and lots of printables. There are also a few online classes for high school level students. These appear to be religiously neutral materials, but don't cover evolution in a comprehensive way.

Mrs. Wordsmith

This company provides books and activities for developing vocabulary. The fun illustrations spark creative thinking and help with recall. Materials are designed for preschool through jr. high level learners.

Spanish Mama

If you're interested in raising a child fluent in Spanish, this is a good place to start. The blog has loads of great ideas, and her Teachers Pay Teachers store has all sorts of printable materials. There are also links to videos, songs, games and more. Try out some of the free downloads to see what you think of the learning materials.

Project Wild

This program comes from the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. It's goal is to develop awareness of wildlife and environmental issues. The full curriculum is available to educators (which seems to include more than public school teachers) who attend a training workshop. There is no cost information on the website, but a co-op or other group should be able to schedule a workshop. The website also has free resources to accompany many of the activities in the curriculum, so it could be useful even without the complete set of materials.

Mac's Abacus

A tool for early math learning. This special abacus helps young children explore counting and number concepts in a concrete way. The accompanying workbook includes lessons and activities, plus a teacher's guide and lesson planner. Very affordable!

Prodigies

This complete music curriculum is available online for preschool and elementary level students. The basic curriculum includes videos lessons using Kodaly hand signs and singing. You can also purchase color coded desk bells to play along while learning music notation and theory. An upgrade to membership gives you access to lesson plans and printable materials.

Reading IQ

This reading app provides access to thousands of books for preschool through 6th grade level learners. The subscription (for a pretty reasonable monthly price) allows for progress tracking for 3 students, and the app will make recommendations based on reading level and interests.

Talkbox.Mom

This program takes a different approach to language learning. Use the everyday phrases in the book to begin speaking the language in your home, and develop fluency over time. Books are available for Spanish, French, and German at reasonable prices, and purchase includes downloadable audio to help with pronunciation.
