This is a great free resource for world history. The main feature is a concise narrative of world history that can be downloaded or viewed online. It's a no-frills text with just a few maps and pictures, but loads of information. There are also lesson plans, ideas for projects and writing assignments, and rubrics to go with them. A truly useful place to begin planning a world history course for jr. high or high school students.

This site has free guides to a huge collection of novels. Guides include a short summary of the novel, plus summaries of chapters, character profiles, metaphor and theme analyses, and author biographies. If you register for a free account you can also access discussion forums. (Warning: there are some very persistent video ads on this site! Nothing inappropriate, but definitely annoying!)
