4-2 Explore

This would be a good starting point for unit study resources. Organized with "Thematic Pathfinders" that list 4 main websites (and several others) for each topic. Some examples of topics: Ancient Rome, castles, drought, balloons, clouds, electricity, number systems, Pi, journal writing, tall tales.

History Scribe

These printable pages are a variation of lapbooking or notebooking. The student presents what he or she has learned in writing and drawing. (High school level materials include essay questions and some other specific information.) There is also a geography collection, "Bible Scribe", and (if you can excuse the very sexist name!) "Boy Scribe" which includes some science and military topics. Very affordable.

Write Source

This is a writing curriculum published by Houghton Mifflin. It's based on the 6 Traits approach to the writing process. There are homeschool packages available and Hewitt Homeschooling has a syllabus for planning which is very helpful and reasonably priced.

Brain Pop

This website provides animated videos in nearly all subject areas. The main site is targeted to upper elem. through junior high ages, and Brain Pop Jr. is for K-3. It's a bit pricey, but you can save money by ordering through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Book Punch

This website provides activities for exploring literature. There are currently about 40 titles available recommended for grades 3-9. The activities are interactive writing prompts that guide the student through the writing process.
