Jr. High (6-8)

History Bombs

This program includes videos, worksheets and quizzes for history learning in jr. high and high school levels. The videos are available for free on Youtube, but you need to get the teacher subscription for the printable materials.

Legends of Learning

Online, super-hero themed science games for elementary and middle school levels. You can play for free (with ads and limited content) or pay a reasonable subscription fee for membership. (Unfortunately, you have to be affiliated with a public school to get all of the features for free! Perhaps some contact from the homeschool community would change the company policy!)

Grammar Active

This hands-on grammar curriculum includes CD ROMs, teacher manuals, and games for learning grammar in elementary through high school levels. Although designed for classroom settings, it can be used in homeschooling, and you can get a good discount through Homeschool Buyer's Co-op.

Certell

History and Social Studies curriculum available for free from a non-profit, bipartisan organization. There are currently courses in American History, Government, and Economics, with World History in the works. Courses include e-books with embedded audio and video, plus course files (for planning and assessment) that can be used with a learning management system, Google Classroom, or downloaded for offline use. Looks like a great option for high school level students.

Teachers Try Science

This site has a collection of over 500 science lesson plans for grades 5 through 12. There is also a smaller selection of kid's experiments. There's a good search function, so you should be able to find what you're looking for, and all resources are free.

myON

A digital library featuring literacy, assessment, and tracking tools. Parents can assign books and writing or literacy tasks and see reports on progress. It appears to only be available to homeschoolers through Homeschool Buyers Co-op, but the price is very reasonable!

Homeschool Entrepreneur

This site has lots of resources for family and teen business owners. If you want to make your family business a learning tool, or help a teen to start a business, this is the place to go. There are links to lessons on business and entrepreneurship, blog posts and articles, and lists of helpful software and books. There is some religious content, but many useful tools for secular families as well.

Talkbox.Mom

This program takes a different approach to language learning. Use the everyday phrases in the book to begin speaking the language in your home, and develop fluency over time. Books are available for Spanish, French, and German at reasonable prices, and purchase includes downloadable audio to help with pronunciation.

Bouncy Maps

This is a great map site with an unusual twist. You can choose a criteria (such as population, religion, or agriculture) and the map will change the sizes of countries, states, or provinces to reflect the data. This is a very useful tool for visual learning, and it's just a fun site to explore!
