Learn Math Fast

This math system covers grades 1 through 12 and is focused on helping students develop good "mental math" habits. It looks like the sort of program that will work very well for some students, but not others. It is reasonably priced, and there are some sample pages available for you to try.

Torchlight

This is a new, secular, literature-based curriculum that strives to be multi-cultural and promote gender equality and scientific thinking. It includes book lists and activities for literature, social studies, science, arts, and character building, as well as recommendations for math and reading materials. As of this writing, level K is available, level 1 is coming immanently, and level 2 within a few months. Looks like a very thorough program that is getting a lot of buzz in the community!

Lit2Go

A collection of free stories, poems, essays and other writing in audio and pdf form. It appears to be mostly public domain content, and is well-organized. You can browse authors, genres, and reading levels. There are also some collection based on themes and topics.

Simple History

This site has short text articles and videos on lots of history topics. There are also some books, available in paperback and free with Kindle Unlimited. A nice source for sparking curiosity about historic events.

The Oregon Trail

I nice little information site with an online mini-textbook, maps and information about sites along the trail, and links to several inexpensive kindle editions of first-hand accounts. There is also a teacher's guide that would be a great starting point for a unit study.

Rocket Lit

This online program provides adaptive reading passages on history and science. There are quizzes with multiple choice and free response questions for each article. As students progress, the reading level of the passages is adapted to their level. There is also an annotation tool so students can highlight and comment on text. A great tool for learning in science and history, and reasonably priced.

Peekapak

This is a character education program for young children (PK through grade 3.) There are ten stories in e-book format that explore concepts like respect, kindness, and empathy. There are lessons and activities to accompany each story. You can get the stories and a few activities for free, but need to subscribe for most lessons and activities. The activities are very classroom-oriented, so homeschoolers may not get a lot from a subscription. There is also an online game component, which requires signing up for a waiting list.

Teaching Books

A subscription site with lots of teaching resources for books. There are author resources, study guides, lesson plans, vocabulary lists, websites, and more. You can search by title, author, grade level, subject matter, and genre, and save resources to custom reading lists. Homeschool subscription options include single and multi-family. You may be able to save some money by sharing a subscription.
